Finance Act 2023 Highlights
- Introduction of an export and investment promotion levy on specified imports.
- 1.5% housing tax on employees basic salaries charged to BOTH the employer and the employee.
- Introduction of a new Pay As You Earn(PAYE) tax bands of 32.5% for persons earning a monthly gross salary of between Sh500,000 and Sh800,000 and the new 35% band for any gross above Sh800,000.
- Exemption of exported services from VAT.
- Increase of turnover tax from 1% to 3%.
- 15% withholding tax on income earned by digital content creators.
- Increase in the VAT rate on petroleum products from 8% to 16%.
